Web Design @49+

I often look around me and think, "When on earth did I become the oldest person in my office?"

I don't feel old. And I've been told by the kids around me that I don't design like I'm old. (Then again, I'm their Creative Director and I can give them raises and reject their vacation requests.  So they could be lying.)

I also don't know how any professional web designer can possibly keep up with all the changes and news in this discipline and still have time to actually *design* anything.  Frequently, I read news articles and feel as if I'm five-years behind the times.  But every Monday morning I re-enter the Real World of Corporate Web Design. That's when I realize the technologies presented as "state-of-the-art" by the media are frequently so FAR from being ready to implement on a commercial site that its laughable.

So, I started this site in order to help you clarify:  a) what you can, and should, implement right now into your commercial work; b) what you should learn and start trying out on your personal site;  c) what technologies are still being contested  (i.e. watch, but don't start making decisions based on them yet); and the most important of all d) what technologies are actually Unicorns (i.e. something that people talk about as if its real, but no one has actually seen in the real world.)

So, jump in, enjoy, post comments, and send research links.  We'll have fun.
